The significant amount of scheduling that Iapos;ve undertaken at work has made me think a lot about how little Ischedule my own time. And how much more Icould get done if I did. So I started thinking of all the things Iapos;d like to do more of and how I could integrate them into my life. Here is my list:

1. Keeping our house neater and getting rid of things we donapos;t need. This one is especially important since we havenapos;t moved in what will be 3 years and I feel like we are accumulating more than Iapos;d like us to. And because our apartment got so dirty when I was doing Madeline and I spent way too much time trying to scramble to clean before family came to visit.

2. More crafting/projecting. After the summer of quilting and sewing I needed to take a few weeks off, but I feel ready to start up again and I already have a small list of things I want to do. Small sublist of projects:
 a. repair the quilt I made last winter (it just has a few loose seams and needs some love)
 b. alter and finish quilting the comforter I made a few years ago to go in the purple room
 c. make a shawl/wrap for either myself or someone for christmas
 d. find a good afghan pattern to make either for us or for someone for christmas
 e. make shirts from the fabric that Stacy and I bought this summer

3. Get back into playing the piano or guitar. It has been so long since Iapos;ve done either that I will have to pretty much start from scratch. Luckily in November i will have a lot of spare time that I will need to spend at the Opera center

4. Get in better shape. I was doing so good running and everything earlier in the summer but then the end of summer hit and Istopped doing everything. I also really want to look into the possibility of either yoga/ballet classes or circus school (you think Iapos;m kidding, but I am not). This is something that will probably have to wait until November or December when I have consistent nights off.

So here is what the plan is so far. Starting last week I decided that I have to clean 30min every day and that went pretty well and was surprisingly easy to keep up on. This week Iapos;ll add 30min of crafting/projecting to the cleaning and see how that goes. The following week is tech so I probably wonapos;t add anything that week, but after we open I will try to add both 3 and 4. In theory it wonapos;t be that hard, but weapos;ll see.

Iapos;m due in the office at 8am. Iapos;m awake and ready to...sleep. Yes, sleep, that thing that evaded me 4 hours ago. Well here it is and if I grasp this precious gift of sleepiness, my ass wont be sitting in the shitty office chair at 8:01am like itapos;s supposed to be. So fuck you, Sleep and the countable sheeps you rode in on. Fuck you right in your saggy sand man ass

Iapos;m really hoping the coffee will perk me up or the next 10 hours are going to kick my ass. Maybe Iapos;ll enter that happy stage of sleepiness where everything is funny. Maybe the two old biddies that live in one of the highrises wont call today. Maybe it will be pleasantly warm and no furnaces will take a crap today. Maybe Iapos;m a fucktard for following Trav off to bed when he went.

Mmmm.....I smell coffee. Not just regular coffee. Folgers Black Silk. If this the deities drink coffee, then this would be their bean of choice

To answer your question: No, Iapos;m not okay. But itapos;s alright, this isnapos;t "standing on the edge of a mountain with a shotgun in your mouth and plastic Kmart bag over head-not okay". Itapos;s more of "that girl just aint right-not okay" and it will be okay in aboot 10hrs and counting when I pull into my driveway, kick off my pants and pass out on my couch.

So, lets everyone cross our fingers and our ovaries and hope that today turns out okay.

Grab the nearest book. Open the book to page 59. Find the fifth sentence and the next five sentences afterward. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions. Donapos;t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the closest.

"As with almost all Simpsonian humor, though, the simple sight gag is rarely as straightforward as a mere vaudevillian pratfall or Stoogeian eye gouge. Consider, for example, Homerapos;s efforts to dispose of a troublesome trampoline of his recent acquisition in Episode 1F05("Bartapos;s Inner Child"), which gives rise to one of the showapos;s most overt and inspired tributes to the Warner cartoons. There are several gags in the sequence, but the most impressive has Homer taking the trampoline to the edge of a cliff and simply tossing it into the deep crevice below. We watch it plummet into a decidedly Wile-E-esque desertscape, where it impales itself on a rocky spike and then sproings Warnerly back the way it came. Homer, meanwhile, gloats over a job well done, even as the trampolineapos;s shadow falls over him. It slams down upon him and bounces up and down on his head, hammering him into the ground"

from Planet Simpson: How A Cartoon Masterpiece Defined A Generation. By: Chris Turner

I actually stopped reading this book, for no reason, after moving home and need to finish it because itapos;s actually really interesting.

So there was a young ginger cat in school today, outside the gas cylinders room in one of the buildings. O_o It was mewing and wandering around, but it didnapos;t seem to be hurt in any way. Howapos;d it get there, though? Itapos;s hilly and full of buildings all around. O-o

And Math lecture ended at a decent-ish time today, on the later side of "normal time", but it seemed that the bus schedules for these couple of days are kind of screwed. Yesterday I had to wait around 9-15 minutes for my bus home, this morning it took around 9 (when usually it would take 6 or so, and this evening, it drizzled, so Mich and I waited 15-20 minutes for our bus, and the first one we saw was crowded and didnapos;t stop for us =O

And so did our subsequent 2-3 buses. X-x So we finally decided on taking the express bus... And after Mich alighted, things seemed to be going okay, albeit slow apos;cause I saw Ngee Ann Poly about 25 minutes after we boarded. O_o; Which was really slow.

The bus speed seemed to be picking up then, but then we ran into this HUGE traffic jam down this road, and all we could see was the red tail lights of the cars in front. O_o Even the bus driver was making noise and such, apos;cause itapos;s supposed to be an express bus, and it keeps to a really tight schedule. T_T So much for going home early to do work.

As it turned out, the jam was caused by a fire engine and a huge truck occupying two different lanes on a three-lane road. -_- So after that, it was pretty smooth sailing till I got home.

... But on the bus, I was watching this local Chinese drama serial, where this man had two wives who didnapos;t know anything about each other, and suddenly he found out theyapos;ve become friends, and when he landed in hospital, both women find out that they share a husband. O-o so one of them slapped him, and the other one just kind of stared at him disappointedly when he chased after the first wife. O-o One word - Fail.

Well well well, ElJay, long time no see

I donapos;t really know why I went on a blogless hiatus, but I did. Lots of things have happened, good and bad, and it would take forever to catch you all up on them. So I wonapos;t. Instead, Iapos;m going to look at this as a fresh new beginning. Also, Iapos;m going to make this journal PUBLIC. Eek Egads

No more hiding my thoughts and feelings behind "friends only" settings. Plus, I really donapos;t have anything to hide anymore. Iapos;m proud of where I am in my life, Iapos;m proud of what Iapos;ve accomplished, and Iapos;m most proud of being an "I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T" lady (gosh, I love that song) who makes mistakes and learns from them.

So. Iapos;m still in school to become an RVT (registered veterinary technician). I even have my own raspberry-pink stethoscope with the abbreviation a little prematurely following my name engraved on it. Iapos;ve got over a year of work experience at a veterinary clinic under my belt, and I canapos;t even begin to describe how LIGHT YEARS ahead of my classmates I am because of my amazing boss, Dr. Kelley Owen, and a certain tech who I bowl in a league with every Thursday night Work experience has taught me way more than any class could. I could list all of my skills here...you know, like how I can perform a phlebotomy on a screaming kitten, or how I can run a complete CBC, Chem12, and electrolyte blood test on an ailing geriatric, or how I can properly handle (and sometimes "manhandle") and restrain a scared, aggressive boxer or pit bull who would love nothing more than todestroy my face. But...I donapos;t want to brag. :o)

The following is a quote from Veterinary Technician, a monthly medical journal. I love it because it states what Iapos;ve been trying to explain to people when they ask, "What does a vet tech do?"
Most people donapos;t understand how skilled veterinary technicians need to be to accomplish their jobs. "Technicians have to be able to perform a phlebotomy, run a lab, develop radiographs and assist during surgery. In addition, a technician has to be a dental hygienist, an anesthetist, a nurse and a patient advocate,"says Marianne. "In an average day, we might perform multiple tasks that all require advanced medical knowledge and training, but nobody outside the profession knows who we are"
Amen, sister.

Until next time, bizatches.

Iapos;m moving to Olomouc, Czech Republic to attend Palacky University sometime in early January. Is there anyone here that can tell me a bit about the the city? Also, Iapos;m from southern California so it typically stays in the 60apos;s when it comes to temperature. I looked online to check to see what the weather was like monthly, but I would rather read first hand responses. What type of clothes should I stock up on? Like waterproof pants, etc. How cold is it, typically? Online it said it stays in the 40apos;s-50apos;s, but I read somewhere that itapos;s below freezing Iapos;m confused :(

And typically, how expensive is Olomouc? I canapos;t find a lot of information on the city... I keep finding information about Prague but Prague is 2hrs away by train from Olomouc. I do know that itapos;s cheaper than Prague. Thanks.

We were thinking today about roles we choose. When we were more rigid, less willing to share the forward time we all had very real jobs. We organized ourselves in that way and it allowed us to be successful in the outside world. All of those who spent significant time forward or were even aware of what happened forward had responsibilities. We were not really aware that there was room for people to expand beyond their roles and take a more active part in creating a life that they could enjoy as individuals. Some of us looked at some members of our family as being tools to accomplish tasks, not as fully feeling people. Learning to actually share how we feel has made it obvious to everyone how ridiculous that was.

The changes in how we relate have been disruptive, but we are starting to relax and see it will just take some time to develop new ways of keeping everything in order. The people who have had the hardest time with these changes are the ones whose job included protecting or maintaining the health of the system. To each of them this has seemed like a life threatening disruption at one time or another.

I see other groups in these rooms using task based labels to describe their members just as we are learning not to. I am very new at interacting with other multiple systems, really just the last two weeks. I am surprised at the common language, but am noticing that the words may not mean the same things to all of us. I was reading today about a groupapos;s protector. The post
inferred that a protector was a dangerous bad thing. In our interaction with the one Outside control there was a taste of that as well. Almost a fear of one of us. I think perhaps it is a semantic difference.

Those who we would describe as fulfilling that role trade some, but really they are the strongest, and healthiest of us, or at least those most willing and best equipped for dealing with those outside of us. They need to be smart, have experience dealing with the world, have practical skills like driving, maintaining schedules. They need to be able to triage, decide when a situation is actually dangerous and when it is
merely frightening, they need to keep an eye out for internal troubles, and especially now as we have some of the less aware individuals moving up, they need to protect us and them at the same time.

Ibelieve as an individual that my goal is to be part of the group that protects and keeps us safe even though that has not been a part of my role in the past. I see the others stepping up to that role as well, and those who have always protected have been asked to step back a little for awhile, care for interior spaces and needs and rest for awhile. They have been working hardest of all of us out of genuine concern for our health and well being. They act out of love not anger.

In the posts we read outside people seem to think a protector is a bad thing. To us an out of control angry member would be considered more of a child, not a "protector" no matter what age they present as. The rest would need to watch out for them and make sure they stayed safe, and override activities that would be dangerous to the body or system. Just as we all step back to allow a more qualified member up when that personapos;s skill set is needed whether it is physical self defense, fixing the computer or Spanish, we would step up if someone was intentionally or unintentionally risking harm. . For us, a protector means a person who goes above and beyond the normal call of duty to care for us and keep us safe, regardless of what else they do in our system.
